Vic Garmong, President of Pepro, was invited to deliver a presentation that outlined some of the obstacles involved in deploying remote and “off the grid” sites. In addition to this Garmong spoke on some new products that are currently in development to deal with providing power in isolated locations.

According to a Motorola representative; More than ten vendors were invited to participate, including their strategic partner Pioneer Energy Products (Pepro), manufacturers of best-in-class remote sites and site on wheels site on wheels products.

The need for alternative power sources is constantly increasing due to energy availability and environmental concerns. Pepro specializes in designing remote sites that have a minimal environmental footprint. This design method increases the speed that a project receives approvals from various government agencies.

Often times remote shelters are required to serve many government agencies such as the US Forest Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the Border Patrol to name a few. Pepro has a track record of designing shelters that can easily house communication equipment from multiple agencies while protecting it from the various threats to digital equipment.

The purpose for the conference was to survey the current market and determine availability of alternative energy solutions. Motorola’s intention was to develop a portfolio of manufacturers, products and solutions for alternative energy systems that their Engineering, Project Management and Site Development Staff can easily access and utilize when assisting customers in site development.
